UX Writing: GSA System for Awards Management (SAM)

Project type: UX Writing & Content Strategy

The General Services Administration (GSA) uses the System for Awards Management (SAM) website to centralize awards, grants and contracts across the entire federal government. As a result of feedback provided by users and contractors, GSA was looking to make some improvements to the site’s interface and usability. Specifically, the agency wanted to streamline the way federal customers registered and renewed their entity on the SAM platform. Entity registration in SAM is required for any kind of organization seeking federal funding.

I served as a content strategist on a team that included a UX designer, CX researcher and visual design specialist. My role was to ensure that findings from the research team were adapted into web content for SAM.gov that met the agency’s goals for improved usability while still providing all pertinent information needed for customers to create and update registrations on the SAM platform. Below are more details about the project and examples of specific pages updated by our team.
